Spread the word! Have your friends and relatives had a screening mammogram? Women who have had breast cancer are not eligible for the screening program, but they know how important the early detection of breast cancer is.

Breast Screening Program Cancer Care of Newfoundland and Labrador 

Services

  • breast self-exam teaching, clinical breast exam and accredited mammography for women 50-69 years old with no symptoms of breast cancer
  • public and professional education
  • a certified breast examiner (registered nurse) performs a clinical breast exam and provides breast health information
  • a certified breast imaging technologist performs a mammogram which consists of two views of each breast
  • a radiologist reads and reports on the mammogram and makes recommendations for additional views, ultrasound or routine recall screening
  • self-referral; no requisition is required
